Honestly, i couldn't have said it better myself. i'm a freshman also and i can't wait to transfer. i live in Rubin, and that makes it 10000 times worse. which dorm do you live in? and is it getting better for you? because for me it's only getting worse. |
Major: Art & Design Department (This Major's Salary over time)
NYU is not worth the money, point blank. i have been the most unhappy here then i ever though possible. it is simply an extremely depressing environment. it is impossible to feel like you are part of a community in the city, and isnt that what college is all about? if you come here be prepared to spend many many manyyyy nights alone. as a girl, it has to be mentioned that dating life is literally non existent. all of the boys are either gay or taken. the few straight and dateable ones quickly become arrogant and full of themselves. as a consequence, the girls here become VERRRYYY competitive and self esteem among the girls here is generally very low. not to mention that everyone here, girls and boys alike, are extremely rich (we're talking serious trust fund babies here) and snobby.the academics are simply not worth it. tisch is probably the only school worth going to here, simply because it is the second best theatre school in the country. CAS, LSP, Steinhart, and Gallatian are a waste of fucking time. Sure, you will get a good job after you graduate because NYU is a brand name school but you will have learned shit. and besides, its not worth any of the hell that you get put through socially.my advice: only come here if you absolutely love the city and have no hesitations about urban living, as everyone else has said. even then, be very very very very veryyyy cautious in your decision. thing long and hard before coming here. if you feel the desire for ANY form of normal college experience avoid nyu at all costs. seriously.
