Boston University is completely what you make of it, and that can be excellent or that can be terrible. But BU is not a school the way your high school was: it doesn't care about you, and it cares very little for its faculty. BU is an academic corporation out to make money. As such, they will pour your tuition - visibly - into cosmetic changes to the school, while you wallow in your mediocre program. BU will take any excuse it can get to take your money, and will not give a whit about demonstrated need for aid if you aren't really really valuable to their demographic designs (a diverse school attracts more students, and therefore more money). That said, the PEOPLE at BU (rather than the giant corporate entity) are generally very open-minded, nice people, and if you don't care too much about belonging to a close-knit school where everyone knows everyone else, being social shouldn't be an issue.
