This school is challenging, there is no doubt about that. Unfortunately that doesn't make much of a difference. The positive is that as an undergrad you are required to take a co-op (I received my undergrad elsewhere, I am working on my Masters). Co-ops give you the industry experience you need to get a job when you graduate. If you are Masters student though, and haven't had any industry experience, don't expect RIT to help you get it. I am required, because of my lack of experience, to get a co-op in order to graduate but I am having an impossible time. You can be sure that if I went to Berkeley or Stanford I would find employment, but no one has heard of RIT so I am stuck.

RIT aesthetically is probably the ugliest campus I have ever seen. It's not dirty or dilapidated, it's just ugly. When people call it "brick city" they are being totally serious. The college caters to tech majors, and those people aren't exactly fighting for more trees on campus. They spend most of their time in front of their computers or gaming.

RIT is located in Rochester, which must be one of the most uneventful cities in the east. There is really nothing off campus worth going off-campus for. There are bars, a few restaurants on Jefferson Ave, a small mall and that's about it. You'll learn which areas of Rochester to avoid, as some are notorious for high crime. They're not near the college though, thankfully. There are cameras all over the campus, and it's pretty well lighted. You can feel safe if you are there in the evening unless you have to park in the furthest parking lots. Those are a bit creepy.
