Major: Electrical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
If you're serious about science/engineering, this is one of the very few places to be (others include MIT, Caltech, Harvey Mudd, Rose-Hulman…etc). Like most private schools, this school is fairly small, so you get lots of personal attention. Another big plus is this is a very undergrad oriented school: as of now it's about 4900 undergrads and only about 1600 grads (unlike MIT which has 1.5x more grads then undergrads). There are a few negatives that people find in RPI (but things i love and i'll tell u why)-there are very few girls here (good, so i wont get distracted, and…it IS a tech school), lack of social life (never wanted a party school), Troy (the fact that it's dangerous and old and broken down is what makes it MORE interesting, and nearby Albany is pretty much the same), the weather (I love the cold weather and snow), and that's pretty much it. There's one thing I don't like too much, and that's the management and H&SS majors. I honestly don't see why a tech school like RPI has ppl who major in management or EMAC. What's the point of going to a polytechnic institute to major in that stuff??? Lots of geniuses here, so work hard while you're here. It's a good place, and I recommend it.
