I transferred to Stony Brook from Southampton CollegePsychology
I transferred to Stony Brook from Southampton College my junior year and it was the best decision I ever made! I was a psychology major at Southampton College and I was able to maintain a 3.8 GPA with MINIMAL effort. Some of you might be saying, maybe I should go there, but its not worth it. SC was costing me almost 20,000 a year as a commuter student and I was breezing through my college education. (Also the biggest losers you have ever met it your life go there, it is actually frightening to experience)Anyways, I feared I would get out of school and not have learned a thing. I looked for a more challenging school (with normal people) and I got it! My first semester at Stony Brook my GPA dropped to a 3.0, but, I was getting an amazing education and it was only costing me 4,000 a year! I found the Psycholgy program to be top notch. The professors were great, helpful, inspiring. I was able to participate on a research project that was published nationally and even got my name on the report! It looked great on my resume and there are tons of reserach projects like that for undergrads! I found the student body to be extreamly diverse and the coolest thing was that everyone who was there deserved to be there, it was rare to find a dummy in your class. I loved looking around my classes and seeing all the different races and ethnic groups sitting side by side and seeing how smart and interesting everyone was. I actually felt lucky to be there sometimes. I thought the food was good also and there are tons of places to hang out and study. I can only speak from a psycholgy (one of the biggest majors ) commuter students perspective but, I truly enjoyed my time at Stony Brook and I often wish I was back there hanging out studying in the commuter lounge or having lunch with my friends in the SAC, it was great!

Question
I wouldn't go to an impersonal state universityMath
I wouldn't go to an impersonal state university if I could do it over again. Many of my teachers were grad students who didn't speak English well. I would go to a small to midsize private college/university where I would have the opportunity to interact with professors and where the faculty advisors make themselves available.

Question
Stonybrook is a greatBrightPolitical Science
Stonybrook is a great deal for the money. The prof. are great. The campus is not very nice, everything is filthy compared to other schools I've seen. It's not exactly a party school either.
